This article will show you how to check for the software version number of Labfront's most commonly used Garmin devices, and where you can find the information for other devices.
The firmware version can be checked in two ways:

Why should researchers check the Garmin device firmware?
The firmware version of a Garmin device is crucial for data collection and troubleshooting. Firmware is embedded software that controls a device's hardware.
Updating the firmware on all devices before data collection is essential, as it ensures stability, security fixes, and access to the latest features (e.g., new data types).
Occasionally, if an issue is encountered with your Garmin device, you may be asked about its firmware or software version number.

Check Garmin Firmware via Device
To check the firmware of your device:

Check Firmware Via Labfront Dashboard
Researchers can also check the firmware version of connected devices through the Labfront platform. This is often useful when troubleshooting participants' issues.
Participants tab
- Log into Labfront.
- Click the Participants tab.
- Look at the Device Type column. The firmware will be in brackets next to the name of the device. Example: Venu3 (1210).
You can then check this against the latest version through the Garmin website using this guide.
Adherence Tab
- Log into Labfront.
- Click the Adherence tab.
- Click on a participant's data to view their details.
- Look at the Device Firmware information. You can then check this against the latest version through the Garmin website using this guide.
