How to Cite Labfront in Your Study
Thank you for choosing Labfront for your research! Proper citation supports transparency, reproducibility, and helps fellow researchers discover useful tools.
When to Cite Labfront
You should cite Labfront if:
-
You used it to collect physiological data (e.g., HRV, sleep, steps) from wearable devices
-
You used Labfront to deliver surveys, EMAs, or other tasks
-
You used the Labfront dashboard to monitor participant adherence or data quality
- You used Labfront for your data analysis
Suggested Language for Methods Sections
The recommended format is to include Labfront in the methods section.
General
At the initial study visit, two apps (Garmin and Labfront) were downloaded onto the participant’s smartphone to facilitate deidentified passive (raw sensor) and active data collection for the daily survey. The Garmin app facilitated data collection from the smartwatch sensors. The Labfront app is a research platform that collects and organizes the Garmin smartwatch data and enabled the study team to monitor adherence and data collection in real time and remotely through a user-friendly study dashboard. The Labfront app was also used to deliver the daily EMA surveys.
HRV (when using our HRV reports)
Beat-to-beat interval (BBI) data were continuously collected throughout the XXXX experiment using the XXXX watch. Labfront processed the BBI data to derive heart rate variability (HRV) metrics for further analysis.
Standard linear HRV indices were computed from the BBI data for each continuous 5-minute segment. Time-domain measures included the mean RR interval (mRR), the standard deviation of RR intervals (SDRR), the root mean square of successive differences (RMSSD), and the percentage of successive intervals differing by more than 50 ms (pRR50). Frequency-domain measures included the power in the very-low-frequency (VLF, 0.0033–0.04 Hz), low-frequency (LF, 0.04–0.15 Hz), and high-frequency (HF, 0.15–0.40 Hz) bands, as well as the LF/HF ratio, following the standards of measurement and interpretation proposed by Malik et al. (1996) [1].
