Reset Garmin Device Settings and Delete Data

Follow the steps below to delete the data from your Garmin smartwatch. This can be useful when using one device with several participants or for general troubleshooting.

- For Participants and Researchers -

If you want to wipe the contents of the Garmin device and all of the user-entered information, activity history, and personal data, then a hard reset is the way to go. This is recommended when using one watch with multiple participants or if you're experiencing continuous syncing issues with the watch and the app.

If you're a study participant, please confirm with your researcher before performing this action. It may result in data loss. 

 
Select the device you wish to reset:

Reset Vivosmart 5

 
  1. Press Button symbol to view the menu.
  2. Select Settings symbol > System settings symbol > Reset
  3. Select Delete Data and Reset Settings.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Reset Vivosmart 4

 
  1. Press Device menu symbol to view the menu.
  2. Select Settings menu symbol > Device information symbol > Reset.
  3. Select Delete Data and Reset Settings.

    An informational message scrolls in the device.

  4. Press Device menu symbol.
  5. Select Checkmark symbol.

  1. Hold Letter B symbol (the bottom button).
  2. Select Settings symbol > System > Reset.
  3. Select Delete Data and Reset Settings.

Reset Venu 3 Series

 
  1. Hold Letter B symbol (the bottom button).
  2. Select Settings > System > Reset.
  3. Select an option:
    • To reset all of the watch settings to the factory default values, including user profile data, but save activity history and downloaded apps and files, select Reset Default Settings.

    • To reset all of the watch settings to the factory default values and delete all user-entered information and activity history, select Delete Data and Reset Settings.
